I never say anything was five stars. I usually knock a place down for snooty service, slow service, over cooked something or under done something. But for once in my life with complete confidence I can give a restaurant five stars with the knowledge that it is well deserved. The service was uncommonly down to earth and engaging. The food was amazing. Now I understand why people rave about this place the soup du jour was a corn chowder that was enough to make Julia Child proud. I had the Dungeness crab cake special. Delicious! My other half had the salmon, it was even better! Between us we tried the medjool date salad and the pork belly appetizers, uncommonly good as well. But the yum of the evening was the bread pudding which we asked for deconstructed, since we knew we couldn't possibly eat it all.. Wow!!! Can't wait until next time. Thank you!

After driving by and seeing a line out the door, we decided to stop at The Bay House for dinner. The restaurant is very classy and romantic. Every table has a beautiful view of the bay. I would suggest going at sunset! There was a huge wine selection (the menu is a binder). The food was delicious as well. I thoroughly enjoyed our meal of clams (appetizer), beef and duck (entrees).

Excellent meal, view and service. The Bay House is a very, very good restaurant and fully deserves it's four diamonds! We came as a family with two 7 year olds and had a fantastic evening.

This review is for the bar only- I've never dined in the restaurant. I just love The Bay House. The views can't be beat, the service is quick and personal, the small plates are fabulous and they have a good variety of drink offerings. There is often live music, and I just love the special touch of red roses on each table. There are some good drink specials, I expect they are listed on the site. Their sliders are my favorite item- a little spendy at about $17- but tasty. The view is really the star here- come to watch the sunset over the Siletz.

We had a fantastic time celebrating my husband's birthday at Bay House. He had the steak. I had a duck dish that was amazing. We will be back soon. Wait staff was great.

Incredibly drinks, food and views. Exactly what you would hope for on the Oregon Coast. Double Bubbles from 5pm-6pm is a steal and the sliders are awesome. We split those and a salad and thought it was a great, satisfying light dinner! Loved our experience in the lounge and can't wait to go back!

My fiancé and I came here on a whim because we were in Lincoln city and depending on yelp to help us find a good dinner spot. This place had good reviews but it's always a crapshoot because everyone has different expectations and also the good reviews all could have been old. But we were not let down at all. It was an experience very much in keeping with the high positive reviews. Despite some confusion at the beginning since we had never been there before we were very pleased with the prompt and pleasant service. Overall the food was amazing. And while we didn't spend as much here as we have at other places (only around $60) you could very easily spend $250 for a fine dining experience for 2, so just keep that in mind as well. While we didn't have to wait for a table its probably best to call ahead. We sat in the lounge and had a great experience but are looking forward to coming back and visiting the dining room and trying out their menu as well. Food wise the salad was good but the garlic Parmesan soup was great! The beef and the scallops were both amazing but the side dishes they came with were more on par with the salad. Still good, though. My fiancé wasn't as happy with his dessert choice of the sorbet but I think he was just jealous of my delicious bread pudding! The views are amazing and the staff excellent so that alone would bring us back. Add on some of the best food we've ever had and we were quite pleased!

Celebrated our anniversary with an amazing dinner! Steve was very attentive and our waiter Chris was well trained and very fun! This is high end dining and worth every penny. We had the Tasting Menu with the duck as our favorite! Wine selections were perfect. Fabulous view!

We. We're here a year ago and were a bit disappointed. We had a great dinner last night. Tells me last year was the anomaly great salad, great halibut, wonderful wine all make for a very nice end of the day. Glad we went.

This restaurant has really gone downhill. We had a very bad experience there. We did not receive any food including bread for an hour and a half. The menu was very limited and we were disappointed in the food. The manager was rude when it was brought to his attention. The only redeeming thing was the view and the servers.

Fantastic. Lovely. Great Service. Cozy. Amazing View. And get a reservation for sure. Bar is stunning, and the wine selection is terrific. Like no other at the Oregon Coast.

Eat here now! What an amazing dining experience! Steve, the owner, and his impressive professional staff were attentive and gracious. We had the five course tasting menu with wine accompaniment and enjoyed every single bite. Don't miss it!

Awesome Food and Beverage! Highly recommend this restaurant as the food, drink and service was spot on. Best food in Lincoln City with a beautiful ocean view!

I went here for my bestie's birthday, and it was a pleasant experience. The lounge is really pretty with a great view of the sea. We had the 3 course meal and it was delicious! I first started off with the asparagus soup, which really tasted better then it sounds. I was a bit wary of it first, but it tasted great! Then there was beef lasagna which paired well with my wine. I tried some of my friend's scallops, and as a girl born and raised in the East Coast, I was impressed. Dessert was three mini samples of ice cream which was divine. Great place!

Had a family celebration tonight and it was good but not as great as the prices should provide. Nice view for sure and the older gents working there were fantastic but our waiter was so so. He did his job well but no personality at all. Bread came out blazing hot but was very heavy. Salad was fine but nothing to write home about. Scallops were a bit salty, salmon tasty and ahi overcooked. Desserts were tasty. Overall nice but way too pricy for a place that needs to step up the food a bit. Maybe we just caught it on a off night. Would be great for romantic dining though. Great sunset!

So glad we chose to go here. Great food, fantastic service, nice experience. We sat in the lounge and had the amazing three course meal for $25. Scallops and pork were great. Salads and dessert, more highlights! The bolognese was ok. We definitely recommend and would go back.

Great service, friendly staff, great wine list and the food is good. We are in Lincoln City for a month and when we went back to this restaurant for the second time, we were greeted with a "welcome back", cordial greeting. I highly recommend this restaurant if you want fine dining in Lincoln City.

My Fiance and I went to The Bay House to have a nice dinner while in Lincoln City. We tried to eat at The Bay House the year prior, but could not get in, because we didn't have a reservation. So, make sure you make a reservation if you want to eat at this restaurant:) The food was unreal. I would put the quality of the food at The Bay House above anything I have ever had at Ruth Chris, Chart House, Mortons, or Portland City Grill. Yea, it was that good. We had the salmon and steak for dinner. I'm not going to describe what the food tasted like, because I don't want to spoil it for you. 10/10 across the board. Our waiter was great. He checked on us plenty of times. Somehow, he was able time his arrivals when we didn't have a mouth full of food! If you are in or near Lincoln City and what a 5 star meal, The Bay House would be a great choice.

This restaurant on the coast used to be fabulous. in recent times it's sort of gone down the slope. it gives the image of a very high and restaurant. But the food is good at best and should be better than that.

I don't even know how to truly tell you how good this place is. Way beyond 5 stars. I drive over from Portland just to eat here. If The Bay House was a person I would drop down on one knee and propose right now. Unparalleled service, the view, and absolutely perfect thoughtful food make this place my favorite restaurant of all time. When I come here I like to take a seat in the lounge. I adore small plates, and this is the place to get them. The lounge has perfect natural lighting, big windows looking out onto the bay, and a toasty fireplace. They have a huge wine cellar and wonderful pairings. The owner is very knowledgeable and helpful with wine pairings. The last two times that I came here though I was totally taken by the Bay Side Car. It is made with craft liquors. This drink is the product of true mixology, and I highly recommend it. And the food, oh my goodness the food. Here is the breakdown: Charcuterie plate: All of the meats were delicious, the pickled onion, olives, and mustard on the side made for tasty little bites. The highlight of the dish was the duck prosciutto. Charizo Clams: I don't know what they put in that broth, but you could bathe in it it is so good. The clams are perfectly cooked and stacked with bits of chorizo cascading down for a little in each bite. The Pork Belly: My favorite! Tender and perfectly seasoned on a bed of braised greens, risotto, beurre blanc and a perfectly cooked quail egg to top it off. The flavor pairings were absolutely perfect. Creme brulee: A delightfully creamy dessert to finish the meal. I love the delicate sweetness spotted with vanilla beans. All of this and some of the best service I have ever received. The wait staff is pleasant, knowledgeable, and seem genuinely happy to have you as a guest. What amazed me was their ability to anticipate what we needed without being overly attentive. Come here for a peaceful decadent meal, and a gorgeous view.

Had great expectations when we got here. It was really empty when we arrived so we got an amazing seat with an unbelievable view. I would like to give this place 4 stars but the service was very underwhelming. First off the guy at the host desk was over the top sweet (think Mr. Rogers). A little more professional would have been nice. Like I said, view was amazing, food was very good. Pricey yes for what you get and for the fact that there was very little selection. I like small menus but this was just a bit small. I had one choice as far as my tastes which was pasta. I have a big complaint as far as the recommendation of wine. We chose a wine that they had apparently run out of. Fine but when our waiter tried to recommend an alternative local wine, he obviously had no idea what he was talking about. He said that we could not get a spicy type pinot from OR, it was "nearly impossible" he said. Well up to that point we'd enjoyed lots of great spicy pinots on our wine tasting trip. So he brought us a wine that was drinkable but about as far away from spice as possible, it basically tasted like honey. IF you don't know wine, don't recommend like you do. That is my issue. The waiter seemed unprofessional for a fine dining type restaurant. He seemed to want to be very chatty and crack jokes which we were not there for. Food was very tasty, a smidge over priced for the area and the service, sort of creepy.

This restaurant is amazing. Lots of choices and flavors even in the lounge! Steve welcomes everyone in and is always happy and hospitable. Chefs Kevin and Scotch do a wonderful job with making these dishes taste delicious and with beautiful plating. Most importantly, they are excited about working with Taft HS culinary program students as mentors to better prepare them for the industry. Everyone here is always positive and energetic and I'm always excited to visit!

Just OK. Came in for Valentines day and had the 5 course with wine pairing. Our waiter did OK telling us about the food but did not mention a thing about the wine. Food was OK wine was good. Cost was $250 with tip for 2 people. I have no issue with the price but this experience should have blown our minds. Blackfish is not far from here and at half the price it's way better food.

Checked out a number of options for a romantic anniversary dinner and so pleased we chose The Bay House! We are foodies and I previously worked in fine dining, so expectations were high - and impeccably met. The owner, Steve, was delightful and engaging; our server, Van, was attentive and charming; and the food was excellent - locally sourced and homemade, with a lovely presentation and excellent flavors. My husband enjoyed the ling cod and the vegetarian option (spaetzle with winter veggies) was quite flavorful. The location also provides gorgeous views of the tidal flats - overall a wonderful experience. We will definitely be back next time we're in town!

Do not eat here you will be disappointed. I recently dined here and the food was not good and very pricey. The service was non existent and typically for a four star restaurant I do not dine on plastic chairs. We phoned the restaurant two weeks in advance for a special occasion, ordered a special treat and was completely forgotten about. Their website indicates that the menu changes daily however it does not. Sorry this food is equivalent to a chain restaurant as indicated in other reviews.

Beautiful location and excellent food but the service is what really shines. As a server myself and frequent diner, I am not easily impressed by service to the point of needing to write a review. The bay house is different. The service is exceptional from the greeting you receive as you walk in, to the knowledgeable staff that cares for you throughout. High end without pretension. The portions are also more generous than I generally expect from fine dining. If in the area, The Bay house cannot be missed.

Dinner at the Bay House Saturday, June 28. Amazing 5 course meal. With lots of little surprises. The duck was the best I've ever had. The steak and salmon were luscious. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly and the service impeccable. Everything was fresh and local with a touch or worldly class.

My husband and I ate here on our honeymoon. Even though we were broke college kids they treated us like we were the most important people in the restaurant. Our server was absolutely excellent. The view is beautiful and the food is good; but I'm mainly rating on the phenomenal service since dining out is really about the whole experience. It was the most memorable dinner on our honeymoon and will always hold a special place in our hearts.

Didn't realize that the beach had that good of food available. Yum!!! Yes the plates are small, and it can be spendy, but it's worth it. The dishes are immaculately prepared and the flavors blended perfectly for the palate. The wine list is huge! Anything you could imagine is in it. The views are beautiful as well. Great place for a hot date. For those who don't want to spend the big bucks they do have a great happy hour. They have both food and drink specials on happy hour, always a plus for me. If you want to go out for a nice dinner in Lincoln city this is the place to go.

Dinner on July 4 , but it felt like our second honeymoon since the oooohs and aahhs didn't stop for as long as the plates kept coming. The bread and hand churned butter, marinated beets, tenderloin steak, scallops were exquisitely prepared and plated. We've been lucky enough to eat at many Iron Chef restaurants, but The Bay House is more than their equal---and without any "star chef" attitude. The self taught head chef must be a prodigy. Our server was informative but never intrusive. Yes, dinner is expensive, but when you consider the quality and the joy this place imparts, it's worth the splurge. It may be the best meal you will ever eat.

Wanting to treat myself to a nice dinner, I chose Bay House on a whim. They have a fantastic wine selection (the largest I've seen this side of Newberg) and are serious about the storage and care of their wines. True, they are expensive, but with such a view, why not do fresh food and have an amazing meal? When I called for a reservation, I was assured there would be a place for me. Even though I was a little early, I was greeted with kindness and attention to detail. I was even loaned binoculars to spot wildlife. I chose one of their specials - lamb. I'm so glad I did! It was cooked perfectly, with potatoes au gratin and some kale with carrots. True, it was a bit labor intensive to cut off the bone, but why hurry? The meal was perfection and the sun was taking its time showing off a spectacular sunset. I enjoyed it to the fullest. My server suggested a lovely wine pairing and brought the best pear sample ever before salad. I did splurge on dessert and wish I could post a photo. It was a raspberry trifle, topped with a chocolate ganache; the perfect ending to a fabulous meal by the sea. Just a note to those looking for a 'quick meal', this is not the place - go to any number of pit stops along 101. Bay House is worthy of a button down shirt and lingering over your meal. Their food is all fresh and made locally. They featured a variety of sorbets and house made desserts. Whatever you choose, you really can't go wrong.

My husband and I were looking for a place to celebrate our anniversary while on vacation in Newport,OR. We are from Los Angeles and I just wasn't feeling any of the restaurants near our hotel at all. I went on yelp to see what was around and discovered good reviews for this place. We called for a reservation the next night but they were all booked up. They did take our number and said if they had a cancellation they would call. We got lucky and actually we did get a phone call the next day and headed out. The exterior of the place is very unassuming and I just wasn't sure what to expect. We were very pleasantly surprised once inside, as the ambience was very nice. I need to just jump right into food and service. From the front desk to our amazing and attentive waiter, Van, we were immediately welcomed and felt right at home. We simply could not have chosen a better spot for our special night. Every single thing we ate was astounding. Even the pasta my husband ordered was interesting and unique. My filet was superb and I ate so slowly never wanting my meal to end! Complex layers of flavors and perfectly planned and proportioned tastes in every bite. Best creme brûlée I've ever had. Van was so knowledgable and pleasant and we've already talked about booking a flight to Oregon next year for an encore. We were both very happy overall with our experience here and I hope undo get the chance to eat here again.

I work in the restaurant industry and therefore tend to be overly critical at times. I came here with good friends to celebrate my upcoming marriage. Let's be honest, it was a bachelorette party. This type of event usually comes with some pretty negative connotations- especially when you work in a restaurant. From the moment we walked in, the staff was very friendly and accommodating. We were greeted at the door, offered a drink while they prepared our table, pulled out our chairs every time we stood up, took our picture at least a dozen times and were gracious about it...I could go on and on. Each staff member congratulated me on my engagement, and even bought me a glass of wine. And the food was incredible. Hands down the best meal I have ever had- and I consider myself very well versed when it comes to eating! I had the scallops which were prepared perfectly. The roasted garlic soup was also incredible. Everyone else at the table was equally satisfied with their meals- including three vegetarians and one gluten intolerant gal. I cannot wait to take my husband here when we visit again in July, I'm sure he will be equally as impressed. Thank you for such a special and memorable evening!

Excellent food and service... we constantly look for places to eat that are above and beyond in not only the wait staff but the food, The sampler menu totally satisfied our culinary expectations and our server JOHN explained each dish thoroughly... We would have given this restaurant 5 stars but all the dishes with warm ingredients were served on COLD plates... my risotto went immediately frigid. We will be back. The staff was very accomodating to our dietary needs.

An incredibly romantic place to dine. The food was extraordinary, the service was fabulous, the view was great, and it's unfortunate that we don't live closer. We want to go back so badly.

When my cousin and her husband met us in Lincoln City for a weekend we decided to splurge on a special dinner and made reservations at the Bay House. While checking out the menu, we noticed the Sampler and were told that everyone at the table needed to order this in order for the service to be consistent...no problem, we all ordered it. The salad was good but not spectacular, the salmon was excellent - fresh, perfectly finished and delicious; I admint to not being a fan of duck, but even I enjoyed the duck which was beautifully cooked. The steak was so tender and perfectly prepared I was floating on air like the cartoon dog T-Bone! Dessert was a selection of chocolate treats - again, I'm not a fan of chocolate but it was still well prepared and delicious. I would have been happier if one of the 3 desserts offered had been a non-chocolate selection. Even though each Sampler portion was small, each of us left the restaurant sated and smiling. Yes, the cost is somewhat high, but you get what you pay for and we got a delicious meal served by attentive and knowledgeable staff. We will definitely go back next year when we are all together again in Lincoln City!

I really want to like this place, but after spending $200 + you would think you wouldn't have to stop by McDonalds to fill up. I truly believe the quarter pounder with cheese was just as good as anything I ate at the Bay House, and for only $5.

My friend and I came here for dinner today after a great day of shopping. I gave this place a try after reading rave reviews about this place. We both tried their five course tasting menu. All 6 items were fabulous. Now you're probably wondering why I said six items. Well our waiter gave us a pre-course appetizer which was a puff pastry filler with greyere cheese. It was simple yet full of flavor. Course 1: Mixed organic beets, arugula, pumpkin seeds, goat cheese, apple-honey vinaigrette. This was wonder and full of flavor. It was sweet, savory, and the goat cheese was very creamy. Yummm! Course 2: Maine sea scallops, cauliflower puree, granny smith apples. The scallops were soft, sweet and succulent. This course was executed perfectly. Course 3: Moscovy Duck Breast, farro, spinach, parsnip. The duck was moist and slightly sweet. The spinach was flavorful and soaked the juices from the duck. Mmmmmm! Course 4: Piedmontese Filet, broccolini, fingerling potatoes. The beef was soft and juicy and cooked medium rare. The broccoli I was slightly crunchy and the fingerling potatoes moist and salty. Course 5: Agostoni chocolate, blackberry panna cotta. This was a triple chocolate treat with the Agostoni chocolate, chocolate truffle and chocolate ice cream. The blackberry sauce was a wonderful accent to the dessert. There were also multiple textures that makes this dessert one of a kind. Overall the experience was wonderful and I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a fabulous fine dining experience in Lincoln City. This is a great place for small or large family gatherings, a business meeting, or a date night. I would also take them up on the tasting menu. The only catch is that the entire table needs to order the tasting menu. You won't be disappointed!

What more can be said about this restaurant that hasn't been mentioned? Our server, John, was incredible, and added to the delight of the evening. We chose the Sampler, and came away from beautifully plated tastes of scallop, duck, beef, to the most incredible coconut sorbet. I'd love to have started the meal with dessert! Kudos to Kevin, may he continue to do his magic. oregoncoasttoday.com/the…

One of our favorite restaurants anywhere. It was a great break when our kids were young and one of our favorites now that they're grown. The atmosphere, the food and the wine list are all wonderful.

My husband and I recently celebrated a night out at the Bay House. From walking in the door everyone was so friendly. We opted for the dinner that sampled everything on their menu. I could see where some people would have a bad experience with this- as some items on the menu we tried were not very good. But the other items were exceptional (The scallops and beef dishes!). The duck was not a favorite of mine at all, but my husband enjoyed. I could see if I had just ordered the duck I would have had a bad experience, but I'm glad we got the sampler dinner that provided tastes of everything. The atmosphere was very nice (after the large table of loud ladies left) and the views were perfect setting to a nice night out. Would definitely go back again.

Been here a couple of times. The restaurant and bar are certainly nice enough but I think the food is good, certainly not great. Not afraid to spend money on a great meal. It's all abut the experience, creativity, and ultimately a great end product. This place is good and people should consider going. However, relative to the area it's pricey and maybe not worth it. Tried different items but last time went for a salad and sliders, plus drinks. Both pretty decent but nothing special. Portion-wise, I agree with moderate portions because nobody needs to eat that much. These portions were almost ridiculously small. Anyways, the service was good and friendly. Won't run to go back but go and make your own decision.

Who cares if the chef looks like he is twelve? This is quite possibly the best meal I have ever had and I have been a lot of places in my long life! We were looking for a nice dinner, but never expected what we got. The chef, Sean McCart, should be internationally acclaimed if he isn't already. He is of that caliber. The food, the plating, the waitstaff, wine selection and an on site owner who actually cares about his restaurant. This was a New York experience with a heart! Forget Manhattan and make this your destination. We opted for the five course "Tasting Menu" meal. Ok, so it was $59 a person..believe me, I would sell just about anything I owned to pay for that meal again. The salad, the halibut fillet with roasted vegetables (if you have never had sea beans- you must) , the side of greens, all were perfectly prepped and plated. We had an excellent bottle of wine for about $52. Oh, did I mention the three tiered dessert? There is absolutely no reason why you should not tell your friends or make an extra few trips during the off season just to eat here when they need you!

Over the years this has been one of the top restaurants on the Oregon Coast. In the past few years they have gone through several Executive Chefs and the food (and menu) has not been consistent. This used to be our top high end restaurant for events and celebrations but for the reasons stated we tend to celebrate at Restaurant Beck at the Whale Cove Inn near Depoe Bay.

We use to like to stop here for lunch and wine in the bar but this weekend we noticed that they are only open 5PM to closing on Wednesday through Sunday, a victim of the slow economy. Giving them 4 Stars for their hours of operation.

I went here with a friend and had a really positive experience. We decided to try the chef tasting, which was absolutely the right decision. Along with the tasting we also tried the wine pairings. The food was excellent and the wines complimented the dishes beautifully. The staff was very personable and knowledgable. Our waiter was very attentive and really made sure our experience was a special one. But let's face it, it's all about the food, and the food is definitely the star. It may be pricey, but it was worth every penny.

OK, let's get price out of the way right up front. The Bay House is expensive for the Oregon Coast. Four of us with a moderately priced bottle of wine, one cocktail, four appetizers and three desserts, including the tip, spent the better part of $300 for the dinner. That said was the food and service good? Without a question yes. We ate a late dinner there on July 4th so that we could watch the fireworks over the bay. We were the last dinner group seated that night which often isn't a good position to be in but there was no rushing us to eat and get out. In fact we had a nice leisurely dinner with service that was attentive without feeling hovered over. I had the Halibut and my wife the Duck dinner. Both were well cooked and plated. The halibut was moist and the duck juicy and tasty. I had the Wasabi Crab Cocktail which was tasty but when one advertises a wasabi anything it should have a little zing to it. The little dab of wasabi was more of an afterthought, especially at almost $20. My wife had the Pistachio-Crusted Brie with Orange Brandy-Infused Apricots & Caramelized Walnuts. The Brie was young enough that it didn't have a strong smell but old enough to be creamy, a definite plus in my mind as I don't care of strong smelling cheeses. While the Crab Cocktail was truly a one person serving the Brie could easily serve two or maybe even three people. I'd order the Brie again but I'd have to think about the crab. For dessert I had three scoops of their house made sorbet, lemon, blackberry and I think mango. They were all good but the blackberry was exceptional. I'd go back to the Bay House again just for the blackberry sorbet. The flavor was intense and the color almost black there was so much fruit in the sorbet and not an ice crystal in any of them. Yes, I know that sorbet is basically just ice crystals but this was smooth and not that crappy crunchy stuff you get when they make it up days in advance don't store the sorbet at the right temperature. I thought overall the menu was a little limiting given the prices. Just one steak and it pushed $50. I'd have liked to see another slightly more moderately priced steak on the menu of at least a nice Porter House steak or Rib Eye instead of an 8oz Filet Mignon. In my mind filets are over rated. The seafood choices were good with Chinook Salmon though I would have like to see a bit more of the seafood's history. The view from the dining room is good but the real treat is the deck off their new bar. Get there early on a warm summer afternoon and snag a table on the deck and have a few drinks and some food off the bar menu. The Bay House is definitely worth consideration for a special occasion or a few drinks on a warm summer or fall afternoon.

Recently took my wife to the Bay House for her birthday dinner. We had the tasting menu and accompanying wine flight. Choose them, if you want a full-evening, relaxed time. The servings are not big (nor would you want them to be), but add up. Every course had nice, surprising touches. This is a labor-intensive kitchen. We had a great time. I want to comment that this place would also work for parties who want to have a quicker, but high-end dinner. You don't need to have the five courses of the tasting menu. There were even a couple of parties I saw with (well-behaved) pre-teen kids, who did fine--the waitstaff was very attentive to the kids. The staff is professional and knows the food. The owner, Steve, clearly loves what he does for a living.

We had an excellent dinner at the Bay House. I'm not quite sure about the problems that other Yelpers had here. But, we had none of them. We chatted with the owner Steve as we waited on our table. He showed off the remodeled bar and lounge that has some nice small plate options and seemed to be a local hot spot. Our server then took us to a romantic booth in the dining room overlooking the bay. As Kris thumbed her way through the bible sized wine list, I took in the view. It's such a beautiful setting and we had spot on and helpful service to boot. So many wines, so little time. We were able to settle on a bottle after we had heard the specials and formulated an attack strategy. We started with the crab cakes of Dungeness Crab, a Radish-Arugula Salad, Roasted Red Pepper Purée, and a Saffron Aioli and the Beet Salad with Organic Mesculin Greens, Belgian Endive, Gorgonzola Cheese, Hazelnuts, and a Red Wine Vinaigrette. Both were great, love the crab here. We both had fish for our mains. Kris had the pan seared halibut with broccoli rabe and mashed potatoes. I had the grilled swordfish with tropical salsa and asparagus. Huge portions, so we got to share a lot and enjoyed them both. We finished with a tart berry cobbler that my wife loved. The Bay House was great from start to finish. Service was knowledgeable, attentive and spot on. Dishes were well presented and the quality of the ingredients is stellar. Fresh seafood daily. Prices are in line with similar meals at top restaurants in Chicago, SF, or NYC. Great food, service and setting. What more can you ask for? Looking forward to returning to the Bay House.

Great dinner and stellar service from Jackie Sinelli! We attended a surprise 60th birthday party for one of my brother-in-laws. We had attendees from PA, MD, and OK. The staff was very accommodating and cordial to the group of 10 from start to finish. Especially Jackie! Her and I spent a lot of time going through the (massive) wine list and choosing GREAT wines. From the Turley to the house special from Ken Wright to the Adelsheim; the wine ROCKED. Jackie also helped us with our dinner selections. From the salmon to the pork belly to the tuna app, it was all amazing. So amazing, in fact, that we almost returned a couple of night later, but didn't... and we regretted it.

Wonderful atmosphere, right on the bay, great views, excellent wine selection and exceptional food. This is a great spot for a special occasion, dinner with friends, or small intimate dinner with your special someone. It is all meant to be enjoyed, not rushed as it should be - plan on taking your time.

Fabulous views of Siletz Bay on the Oregon Coast. Fabulous food, always inventive, always delicious. Scallops, Halibut, fresh Pork from local farmers as well as fresh vegetables from locals makes this our top choice to eat here in Lincoln City. Higher priced than the run of the mill places you will find up and down the coast, however the quality of the food warrants the price PLUS what a view! Great owner, great staff, great place.

The service was excellent. The wine list boasts over 1800 choices. Our party enjoyed the crabcakes, pear salad, halibut and salmon. We had no complaints.

We had dinner at the Bay House last week for my husband's birthday. I was pleased with the lovely view we had at the corner window table, but frankly, we could have sat just about anywhere, because the place was practically empty, which surprised me. I don't know if was just an effect of being off-season, if there was spring break going on or what. We had brought along a very nice bottle of wine, as my husband is something of an oenophile, not to mention that the markups in places such as this can be pretty hefty, which was the case. However, the real shock was the $35 corkage fee, which is pretty outrageous. I think the highest we have ever seen is MAYBE $20 here in PDX. We said we'd take a look at the wine list, but in the end, we each got wine by the glass, as he ended up having the beef and I had scallops. There was a bit of pressure for us to open the bottle we had brought, even though we hadn't even seen the menu yet, so that was kind of awkward and uncomfortable. The food was very good - we shared a couple of appetizers, and as I said, he had the beef and I had scallops. Service was good, attentive without being overbearing. When it came time for dessert, we were looking at the menu, and I made an offhand comment to my husband about the 6 puttonyos Tokaji, as it's not something one often sees on a dessert wine menu! We ordered dessert, and I had a glass of the Frambrosia and my husband ordered a port. When it arrived, I was delighted to find that our server had overheard my comment, and had snuck us a tiny taste of the Tokaji, which was absolutely delicious. All in all, I would probably go back again, though I do agree with other reviews that complain about prices. The corkage fee is obviously designed to get people to buy wine from the restaurant, which makes sense, but I don't think they need to be quite so exorbitant about it.

We were lucky to have dinner at the Bay House on a night where the weather was perfect and the sunset amazing. That being said, the overall experience was tremendous. Right on time, we were picked up at Salishan Lodge in their limo. The relief of not having to drive back/forth was great for our party of four. We sampled through many of their appetizers, salads, entrees and desserts. However, the highlight of the meal (for me) was the clam appetizer with pineapple juice and chorizo. It truely blew my mind and I would ordered that and only that whenever possible. The service went smoothly and our waiter was attentive and didn't push us through our course. We were able to fully enjoy our experience and I can't wait to return.

Finally got the chance to go here last month after driving by it literally hundreds of times throughout my life. The food is spectacular. The view is incredible. The wait staff is attentive and helpful, but not "hovery." And if you like wine, like me, then you should be pretty impressed with the 172 page(!!) wine list. We counted and there are 21 pages *just* of Oregon pinot noirs. Pretty amazing. The food was great. We all had different items and everyone was equally pleased. The Piedmontese beef was truly spectacular. As good as the wagyu beef I've had easily. If you are looking for an out-of-the-way place, and are willing to make the trip to the Oregon Coast, this is completely worth your while.

Nestled along the Sieltz bay, we made reservations for our 1st wedding anniversary dinner. There's probably not a bad table in the house (there's only 23). The menu is small and deliberate. An extensive wine list (available online), with a wide price range. Definitely something for most all levels of wine enthusiasts. I agree with the other reviews, the Bay House is expensive, more expensive than most. But I think you get what you pay for. The portions are not excessive and represent an individualized dish made with intent and one that is intended to savor and enjoy slowly while taking in the view and your dinner companions. Absolutely recommend the cheesecake - one of the best I've had. Firm and not too sweet. Our waiter, John, was friendly and attentive. He made a successful wine recommendation when our first choice was not available. We'd certainly come again, but likely more of a special occasion restaurant for us.

The Bay House is a foodie's restaurant, a place where locals go for a special night out. It *is* expensive, but exactly what you'd expect from local, sustainable yadda-yadda. So excellent food at expected high price. For a great deal and an overall mid-price range go for happy hour. I think it begins when lunch ends at 2 and continues til the dinner hour (I think 6). They have wonderful small plates, with top quality selections and drinks 2 for the price of 1.

The customer service couldn't have been any better. The place was very clean. The food was excellent and unique. It was a little expensive, but everything else being perfect I felt it was worth it. If you like wine, you have a very large selection to choose from. I really enjoyed my dinner at The Bay House!

We consider the Bay House the best restaurant on the central OR coast. We've dined here many times, and have never had anything less than a terrific meal. The setting is beautiful, the service excellent, and the food delicious. Additionally their wine list is outstanding. Really a classy place for a very special dinner. Fairly recently they have begun serving a lighter and less expensive menu in their beautiful bar. We have not dined there, but would expect it to be very good.

As a Portlander with more great restaurants then I could ever get around to enjoying, it was wonderful to take a trip to Lincoln City yesterday and check out the offerings. Driving by the The Bay House, we took note of its ideal location for a relaxing happy hour, and it was exactly what we needed. Comfortable couches, panoramic view of Siletz bay, delicious wine served in 6 oz quartinos (I love these so you can pour your own wine to your desired levels..) with gorgeous Riedel stemware, and the small plates were all delicious. The crab cocktail was one of the best I have ever had, and everything was perfectly seasoned. I can't wait to go back! Go now before the tourist season hits...the owner Steve will spoil you rotten..

Great, but be prepared it is easy to spend $200+ here for a couple. I think our waiter was new, as he didn't give much guidance and everything we mentioned was "the best". That was okay I guess until he slipped and said our wine choice his personal favorite and then brought it to our table later and mentioned he had never tried it before. Not a big deal but it's there, and he completely lost our trust with any suggestions from then on. That was too bad because the wine list is huge and it is difficult to know where to start. I hear it has a great view but it was dark when we were there for dinner. Food was cooked right (important with a $48 steak), but my wife's dinner was just a touch on the cool side. Presentation of the food was terrific. Overall we liked it, but felt it was a little more expensive than we would have liked. That said, it is the best meal we have had on the Oregon coast in 25 years of both vacationing and living there. There are very few great restaurants on the coast. The Bay House is kind of a big fish in a little pond here.

What a great place by the bay! The ambiance is wonderful and the view is beautiful even on a dreary Oregon night. The dinng room is small and intimate. The wait staff treats you like you are a regular and the food is great. So, why not a 5 star? The wait was a bit long for my taste. I know it was a dining experience but I do not like to have to wait for the cocktails. That took 20 minutes with an empty bar. We ordered wine that needed to be chilled but we were not informed of the delay until we were already miffed. I am sure it was just situational and will certainly give them another try. Ending on a positive note - it was our anniversary and they did the sweetest thing. No singing (hallelujah!) they spread confetti on our table. Original!

When my wife's response to her scallops being delivered is "my plate arrived with a funk," you know it's not going to be good. It wasn't. Surprisingly bland salad as well as pork (but at least neither had a funk). The place does have a great view and their unadvertised happy hour special of two for one helped (as in martinis), but did not diminish the severely lacking flavor on what first glance appeared to be a nice menu.

No Bang For Your Buck!! Skimpy portions, very inflated prices, and the scenery is "so-so," We had to get bread after the main meal...we were still hungry! Go to Fathom's Restaurant right down the road for a much better meal, and much better overall quality!

My god. Yum. Ravoli appetizer with smoked salmon. Wine list that goes on for pages. Incredible sunset views. Food to die for. Duck breast was great and my steak was perfect. Oh, they serve seafood as well and the salmon was also grand.

Went here for a special (big) birthday. I have Always wanted to try it, figured my birthday was as good of chance as any. My husband made reservations a month in advance to make sure I did not cheap out and not go. Anyway fast forward to Friday night, get all gussied up and head out. Turns out we were an hour late for our reservation. So much for planning ahead. They were gracious and seated us anyway in a nice booth with a terrific view. We did not have the tasting menu, though it looked good, just too much food. We started with an app. It was delicious, pork belly seared to perfection served on a bed of cous cous. Then on to salads, mine was the beet, artfully arranged on the plate 5 medallions of yellow beet topped with red beets and micro beet greens, with small balls of goat cheese and a beet reduction. For entrees we had, steak and it was cooked perfectly and the duck. Oh what can I say about the sublime duck? Perfectly seared but strangely served upside down, or at least I thought so. If you are going to the trouble of cross hatching and getting a nice crisp and color on the skin you should serve it up, well at least I think so. It was served on a bed of barley that was chewy and nutty and fabulous. They have a LARGE wine list with a lot of safe choices. Service was smart and personable. No room for dessert, but they did comp us a small scoop of cantaloupe sorbet. It tasted like someone froze a chunk of mellon, puréed it and scooped it out into our bowl, heaven. All local ingredients and care is taken with everything makes this worth the price in my book. I was expecting a old school seafood restaurant and was pleasantly surprised.

We have dined at this restaurant 6 times over the past 5 years and have yet to have an average meal let alone a disappointing meal. This restaurant continues to impress from its delicious entrees, huge wine list, waiters that take personalized care of their customers, and spectacular view of Siletz Bay.

Outstanding food and service. From the amuse bouche all the way to dessert. The froth from the mussels was out of this world! Dip your bread and soak it up. The duck breast was moist and tender and not very fatty. Finally, the vanilla bean cheesecake was heavenly. Best meal in a long time!

The Bay House is a good place for lunch but I would try to avoid dinner there. The service is good and the servers are attentive. The view is nice and the restaurant itself is inviting. The Kobe Burger is great, but hold the blue cheese, and the prices are reasonable for their luncheon menu. Unfortunately I think that the attitude of the chef changes from lunch to dinner. Like many French dishes, the food gets lost in a lot of their sauces and combinations. Some of their offerings just seem too complicated and the diner misses out on the actual flavors of the main ingredient. Fortunately lunch at the Bay house is an enjoyable affair. The Kobe Burger has a richness that comes through with every bite and the Halibut is crispy and fresh. For dinner try the pork, to me it was the dish with the most true flavor not masked by, inventive but, distracting sauce combinations.

My wife and I were underwhelmed. Driving from PDX to Yahats to attend a friend's wedding, we stopped for dinner along the way. The sign outside, "Northwest Cuisine" (or some approximation thereof), promised just what we wanted. Imagine our surprise when the main seafood offerings at this bayside restaurant came from: Alaska, Maine, Hawaii, and Hawaii. Yes, we were rather disappointed to be paying airfreight for seafood that had nothing to do with the local waters. And truthfully, the preparations were not all that remarkable. On the plus side, the ambience was casual but elegant; the service was attentive, and the portions were of reasonable size. On the negative, except for crab the seafood was not local; the flavors were pedestrian and did not justify the high prices. Finally, my waiter winked at me once or twice in each of our interchanges. I do not understand the significance of this gesture. Is it meant to suggest we are in collusion over some larger cosmic joke? Is it meant to suggest that my date for the evening is hot hot hot, hubba hubba? Was he signaling his interest in taking me out for a post-work nightcap? Suffice it to say, the actual result was probably not in keeping with his intention: he made me feel uncomfortable.

This place was recommended while me and the wife was doing some outlet shopping. So given the high recommendation we decided to go. Well lets just say this place was nicely located next to the ocean, but lacked in taste, hence the three stars. Food is just OK.

I've been to the Bayhouse a few times in the past, but this was my first visit since they have a new chef. My husband and I both ordered the tasting menu and the waiter offered to do a wine pairing for the us by course, which we did. The waiter seemed rushed the entire night and was borderline curt with us. Not so far as rude, but I felt insignificant, like we weren't important enough. As for the food, the presentation and flavor was exceptional, however the portions were very small. I know it's a tasting menu, but the 4 courses were a couple of bites each. Dessert was by far the biggest portion (the 5th course) and that isn't what I want to fill up on - especially at $50 a person. The wine pairings were wonderful.

We ate at the Bay House last week, and we were unimpressed. Overall: Unfortunately, the food just doesn't measure up to either the beautiful views or to the prices. I doubt we will return. If you go, I suggest going for lunch or a single drink in the bar at sunset. First, the Pros: The view is spectacular. The wine list is expansive- it takes up a binder. The staff was helpful and friendly. Cons: Personally, I prefer a shorter wine list selected by a sommelier to pair well with the menu, but I admire the collector's spirit. The food did not match up to the beautiful view. I had lamb, ordered medium but when I cut into the first piece it was so undercooked that I wanted to send it back. I was served three lamb rib chops (one alone, two that had not been sliced apart). The single chop was the undercooked one. My sides were decent. My companions ordered fish, and they were underwhelmed. The menu does not appear to really take advantage of the bounty of the northwest- most entrees were sourced from other places (lamb and pork appearing to be the exceptions).

On entering the restaurant you are presented with an amazing wall of wines on display - must be over 500 bottles. The bar/lounge is also extensive and looks very cozy with a fireplace in the corner, and plenty of comfortable seating. But the food here is the real star. I don't expect to have a meal of this quality outside of a big city - but here it is on the Oregon coast (and off-season at that). For example, I ordered the crab cakes appetizer, which is served with a "Pernod-Fennel Pollen Mousseline." I didn't know what that was when I ordered it; it was the most delicate yet lovely flavored whipped mouse that was an excellent accent to the crab cakes. Our entrees were similarly tasty and beautiful. Despite the high price (we got out for about $50/person), the service was not stuffy and we were welcomed even though we were dressed quite casually and arrived at 8:45 with no reservations (we had just driven up from Depoe Bay where we we turned away from another restaurant at 8:15 because "the chef has gone home"!)

Read all the reviews and it seemed like a great place - General comments - Service weak - ordered appetizers they never arrived - Food is good but $$$$ for what is served - average meal $35 + - Good wine list but a $25 corkage fee seems a little steep - when I called for the reservation I informed the manangement that it was 2 of my daughters birthday - "nothing happened" in terms of this special event -

Best on the Oregon coast. Honestly, the food may be the best in all of Oregon. The tuna appetizer is the best tartar dish I have ever experienced. The service is spot-on and I'm not even British. The waiter, whose name I still remember, Delano, was awesome-- perfect recommendations, helpful as can be, and he even gave my young son a tour of the kitchen. It's a very personable place with outstanding food, great service, and views of the ocean. What more do you want?

I had an amazing meal at The Bay House last night with my best friend and her fiance. As soon as we walked in, we received the warmest welcome and were seated at an amazing table overlooking the bay. The staff is extremely warm, knowledgeable and best of all, very genuine. I felt that they sincerely want you to enjoy your experience there with them, their Bay House family. I'm a bit of a perfectionist and I notice every detail. For example the butter for the bread was exquisite, creamy and the perfect temperature and easily spreadable. This attention to detail portrays over the whole experience. We were there for almost 3 hours and had the utmost culinary experience. We didn't even notice the time flying by! I had the ahi appetizer, spinach salad, chinook salmon and we shared 4 different desserts. All of the food was cooked/prepared and seasoned perfectly. My friend does not like seafood and they bent over backwards to create an entree for her (that was not even on the menu) that she absolutely loved. I love how they understand the importance of starting with only the best quality ingredients and let the food speak for itself. Overall, the best culinary experience I have ever had in a restaurant! Executive chef, Sean McCart is doing an amazing job!

You get what you pay for -- couldn't be more true than at the Bay House. They use local, fresh ingredients and the menu items are all very creative and top quality. The chef, Justin, is amazing. Impressive wine list too. The recently opened bar area is expansive and comfortable with nice views. There are big screen TV's, comfortable leather chairs, a fireplace ... very nice. For a special occasion or big commission check - go enjoy yourself. The service is excellent too - not rushed and very helpful.
